FTC4390 – Engineering Notebook

October 1, 2013
We decided on a design to incorporate the motor. Mounting the motor on the side of the post is much simpler than our original bridge design. Next, we have to add the pegs.

We searched for the dimensions of the flag crank handle. We decided that the best position for the pegs should reach around P3, but not to P2. This allows for faster, more consistent rotations, and a lower chance of the pegs slipping. In order to attach the pegs 2 inches from the axel, we added a small u-channel. Next we are going to find the right spacing of pieces so that the pegs don’t interfere with the motor, and turning gears.
