Back With a BAM!

Get excited because Storm Robotics is back with a bang! We have an exciting season ahead of us and we’re anxiously awaiting some great opportunities to spread the engineering cheer this year.

We’re currently looking forward to Duel on Delaware, a scrimmage in Salem County on October 21st, graciously hosted by the Miracle Workers, FRC #365. Currently, our scouting division is organizing pit scouting resources so that we can scope out the competition for this season. Our mechanical team is altering last year’s robot’s motors to fit the specifications required for Duel on Delaware. We are anticipating a great first competition this year!

Our official season kickoff is after the Duel on Delaware. On January 6th, Storm is hosting an FRC Kickoff Event at Cherokee High School. We’ll be distributing kits of parts and constructing a practice field for all teams present to utilize, as well as watching the kickoff broadcast. Last year our kickoff event was rescheduled due to unsafe weather conditions, so this year were coming back swinging! Get ready for the Kickoff of a lifetime.

A little further down the road, we are also involved in an event called Family Science Night. This event, scheduled for February, is an opportunity for Storm to bring engineering to young local minds and get the whole family excited about STEM. We have been participating in this event for many years, and look forward to volunteering again. Our mechanical team has already started working on making targets for our demonstration!

At the end of the season we have a series of fun, informational workshops scheduled for May 20th. The Compass Workshops, hosted at Lenape High School, are a great way for our team to get together with the other great minds from local FRC teams and talk about strategy, mechanical technique, software, awards, and leadership. Last year was our first ever Compass Workshop, so we’re excited to make this year even better!

This year Storm is excited to welcome a new team mentor Mr. Zach Bross to our team. He is currently working with a variety of departments to get acquainted with everything Storm is about. We are looking forward to a great season this year so stay tuned!

Clap clap whoosh.
